September Roller Coaster Rides

Wow! Another month has just flown by! What a busy month it was for all of us here.

We started the month with a great visit to Shana's family over Labor Day weekend to visit and enjoy all the activities of the Our Lady of Fatima Festa. From fireworks, to farm fresh apple fritters, dancing (or trying in my case) to Portuguese music in the moonlight, we enjoyed celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Virgin Mary's visit to the three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal. What we didn't enjoy as much (except Roz), the 5+ hours in the car due to extra holiday traffic volume!

It's hard for me to even put into words the feeling that attending this festival provides and the nourishment to one's soul. The collective power of thousands of people united in one common faith to celebrate the love of Jesus is truly awe inspiring in the truest since of the phrase. Here's just a short video of our view of the procession as it advanced through the city streets.

If you want to know more about the annual festival, here's a video which provides a bit more context and detail on why the event is significant and what all is involved.

The trip overall was a great time to see family and just be united in that place. It was also Rosalind's last weekend before her surgery. When we returned from that adventure, Roz had surgery on her paw to try to remove her malignant tumor. Unfortunately, the tumor could not be removed entirely but we are still glad we did what we could to try to help her fight this disease that affects so many loved ones. Now three weeks later, the stitches and staples are out but her foot remains bandaged to continue to allow the excised area to heal. Needless to say, this has been a tough month for Roz dealing with her limited mobility and the frustration of wearing a big cone on her head. We've had to make quite a few (read 6+) emergency visits to the doctor's office to deal with her decision to attempt to remove her bandages when unsupervised. The whole house will rest easier when she's back to her normal, active self and we can go on our fall hikes and possibly some camping trips like we usually do.

Shhhh, don't tell mom! I may have napped on the couch too - Roz

The other big news for the month is that I am playing hockey again! Shana enjoys coming to watch my games I'm sure.

Finally, in actual big news, I started a new job this month and it's truly been a blessing. I'm now working a normal shift so Shana and I have so much more time together during the week and now that I no longer have to work Sunday's we are enjoying having full weekends to get things done and take on adventures like Dorney Park yesterday to celebrate our upcoming wedding anniversary.

We have the same fashion sense.

We are hoping to have an opportunity to match with a birth mother/birth family before the holidays. Waiting is incredibly hard; but, we continue on stronger each day knowing that one day we will be able to fill a child's world with love, faith, and adventure. This is our favorite time of year. The change in weather, the fun outdoor activities, and the wonderful family-filled holiday seasons. We know that we wouldn't be here without our friends and family and because of that we are incredibly grateful. We are looking forward to our trips to MA and TX in October to spend quality time with family.

As always, we appreciate your love and support. Please feel free to reach out to us and ask us anything! Also, if you would like, please share our page with your friends and family. We would love to talk about our journey with you all.

All of our love,
Seth and Shana
